SDGs and FundaciĆ³n MAPFRE Volunteers The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seek to tackle major global problems while trying to leave no one behind. The 169 targets of the SDGs have become profoundly ethical challenges, and companies are seeking to address these challenges in the most sustainable way. That is why corporate volunteering is so important for the SDGs. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development explicitly recognizes volunteers as actors in achieving the 17 SDGs. Voluntary action has become a valuable means of implementing the agenda in a variety of spheres. Volunteering plays a role in engaging people in the implementation of the SDGs by promoting social inclusion, especially for vulnerable groups and those at risk of social exclusion, offering solidarity and serving as an inspiration and catalyst for the transformation that favors development and, therefore, the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda. Linking corporate volunteering to the SDGs is essential for identifying and recognizing the social contribution of volunteer action. To this end, we have been working on a proprietary method that allows us to determine the contribution of our volunteers to the SDGs. The method is integrated into the management platform and, through volunteering action indicators reported by countries and companies, we are able to identify global and country-specific contributions to the SDGs and their targets.
