For schools and communities: Delivering an interactive approach to Safety
Fundación MAPFRE and UMass Memorial will bring a fun, immersive learning experience to schools and community events, where they will use interactive media to teach middle school students how to be safe. The students will learn how to ensure their own safety while becoming injury prevention advocates with their peers and family.
The experience
Escape Artist
In this fire safety experience, young people learn how to make a plan in the event of a fire. With an animated look and feel and theatrical tone, this experience merges virtual live-action characters within a vibrant household environment.
Street Smarts
In Street Smarts, young people learn the importance of paying attention to their surroundings when traveling the streets. On touchscreen tablets, students adopt an animated character who will make their way around a city neighborhood by foot and by bicycle. They gain points by avoiding obstacles and making the right choices.
Home Hazard Hunt
This gesture based game is the signature experience of Safety Quest. Kids spend time in the house and outside in the playground and pool area, all the time spotting potential hazards. They will earn points for all the dangers they find.
Resources
Students join the Safety Squad by completing this activity book and learning how to keep yourself and those around you safe from injuries.
Impact
SafetyQuest is currently visiting schools throughout Central Massachusetts.
