Graciela Iturbide’s creative process stems from active observation and becomes an ongoing exploration of life. For Iturbide, taking photographs is fundamentally a pretext to learn. Some of the recurring motifs that appear throughout her extensive career include: the fragility and challenging subsistence of sociocultural systems that live under other hegemonic cultures, the existence of rites of passage and ceremonies, and the interrelation of nature, culture, and among religious and pagan traditions, as in this instance, in which the maternity has been titled Madonna.
However, it is understood that in photography the strength and intensity radiated from the images do not originate in the motifs, but rather in their qualitative dimension.
