Carlos Pérez Siquier is known today as a key contributor to the construction of modern photography in Spain and an innovative interpreter of his time. Spanning over six decades, Pérez Siquier created a singular gaze from a privileged peripheral position throughout his career. However, this did not prevent him from posing violent ruptures that were at odds with his time and becoming a catalyst for the most influential photographic collective at that point; Grupo AFAL.

His photographs came from a fertile space that lay between spontaneity, an interest in the human condition, irony, and an awareness of the power held by the photographer’s gaze.
