Training teachers to change the country
More than 200 teachers involved in addressing diversity and inclusive education
Completed Project
Teacher training in diversity awareness and inclusive education remains one of the main challenges for education in the Dominican Republic.
To support the process of educational transformation that the country is undergoing, the Fundación InteRed trains teachers and professionals who work with children with special educational needs. Its objective is that schools promote a process of inclusive education that changes mentalities and allows students to develop according to their abilities.
This project offers a diploma course at the Poveda Cultural Center in Santo Domingo, which is complemented by classroom practice, visits to diversity centers and an in-depth seminar. The foundation also provides support to teachers in their schools so they can involve management teams and promote inclusion in educational plans.
To achieve its goal, InteRed also works with educational authorities. And, of course, with the families. It is still difficult to get parents to participate actively in the education of their children and, therefore, InteRed organizes activities for families to strengthen their commitment to the education of their children.
With the involvement of all actors, it is possible to achieve a transformation in education that includes special needs in its programs. InteRed works to achieve this.
