Current Project

The Associação Benéfica da Criança is a non-profit organization that was set up in 1989 and which serves more than 4000 socially vulnerable people in the poorest area in the outskirts of São Paulo, in the Parelheiros region. The entity began its activities as a shelter for children at social risk and over time it has grown to offer opportunities for children, young people and adults to help them develop as individuals, citizens and future professionals.

The “Vivendo Educação” project is developed through workshops for children and young people between the ages of 6 and 14. The aim is to enable them to learn a series of social, emotional and educational skills that, due to their precarious situation, they have not had the opportunity to develop.  Reading and writing, Portuguese, mathematics, sports and music are some of the subjects taught at the association’s child support center.

In addition to helping these children and young people catch up after dropping out of school, the project enables them to improve their self-esteem and confidence, damaged by the difficult situations they are going through, and it supports them in creating their own personal life projects through critical thinking.
