In contrast to classically inspired sculpture, conceived as an expression of the immutable through mass and volume, Rosso dilutes the profiles of his figures in an attempt to capture the expression of emotions, in a creative process that explores, time and again, the differences (light, perspective, materiality, etc.) of sculpting a given figure.
This catalog presents the sculptures, photographs and drawings that were featured in the exhibition Medardo Rosso. Pioneer of modern sculpture, which was on view at our Sala Recoletos in Madrid. The publication reflects the investigative nature of the exhibition in terms of restoring the memory of one of the most important creators in 20th century art.
