According to the emphatic statement made by Albert Renger-Patzsch “Modern life is no longer thinkable without photography” . Renger – Patzsch was one of those responsible for ensuring that photography achieved its own identity, with the objective of reflecting the reality of objects and of life, putting aside the ideals of pictorialist photography that was indebted to painting.
Nature, industry, collections, details, objects… What vision do you have of the world, of things and of beauty? Surprise us with your image by showing us why #ElMundoEsBello.
Albert Renger-Patzsch, acknowledged as one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century, focused on depicting the world in the most objective way possible. His most important published work was entitled “The World is Beautiful” (El Mundo es Bello), alluding to everything around us that the artist referred to as “things”.
Inspired by our current Albert Renger-Patzsch exhibition, we at Fundación MAPFRE would like to know how you perceive “things”. Show us your world and why you believe it to be beautiful with the hashtag #ElMundoEsBello and tag us in the image with @mapfrefcultura on the social network Instagram.
Every week there will be a winner who will receive a catalog of the work of Renger-Patzsch and invitations valid for two people to the opening of any one of our upcoming exhibitions in Madrid or Barcelona.
You can take part between 12 July and 6 September. We will use regram to announce the winners on Wednesday of every week for the duration of the competition.
Let us know, we want to see your image of the way things are perceived.
Your reality in a photograph. The beauty of your world.
Take part.
