Social Innovation Awards Finalist Projects
Innovation and technology at the service of those who need it most
The new circumstances due to COVID-19 are generating deep transformations worldwide in the way we work, live and relate. We have before us a new scenario in which innovation and technology, more than ever, are going to be part of our daily life and we must focus our efforts on making them available to those who need them most. Convinced of the need to boost social innovation, we are continuing with this third edition of our Social Innovation Awards, despite all the difficulties, and to support the 26 semi-finalist projects whose mission and raison d’être are to impact positively on the lives of many people around us, with their initiatives.
To adapt to our current situation, we have reconfigured the format of the three semi-finals so they can be carried out totally on-line. Jury deliberation for the Brazil semi-final will be held on June 23rd, for the LATAM semi-final on June 25th and for the jury for the European semi-final on June 30th.
The three juries, made up of managers and representatives of the innovative ecosystem and social investors, have evaluated each of the projects for their innovative potential and social impact, their scalability and viability, as well as the capacity and experience of the team, issuing a ruling with the name of the 9 finalists who, from now on, are the protagonists of the Grand Final that is coming up in October.
The participants in each category will have to persuade the members of the judging panel that their project is the best. Here they are:
BRAZIL
Category: Health improvement and digital technology (e-Health)
Technology is also used to support the tasks of health workers and help save lives. With this Artificial Intelligence platform that sends early signals to health professionals about the risk of clinical deterioration, hospital mortality and the duration of hospital admissions are reduced.
Category: Insurance innovation
To avoid the risk of electrical damage, this project proposes a low-cost platform that provides information on power quality and electrical anomalies. Given its wifi technology, it can be installed easily and quickly.
Category: Sustainable mobility and road safety
For people with disabilities and limited mobility, knowing the accessibility of the places they are traveling to is a great help. This collaborative mobile accessibility guide can be powered from anywhere in the world.
LATAM
Category: Health improvement and digital technology (e-Health)
Early detection of the human papilloma virus, which causes cervical cancer, can save many lives. It is a simple and low-cost self-test kit that detects the presence of the virus quickly and reliably.
Category: Insurance innovation
Tuberculosis still affects thousands of people. To eradicate this disease, this program provides access to health insurance for people without resources who are affected by tuberculosis. To cover this cost, funds are collected through solid waste recycling activities.
Category: Sustainable mobility and road safety
Mobility is one of the most important factors in assessing the quality of life in a city. Clipp-MaaS is a multi-mode platform that allows people to use any of the transportation options available in the city, pay electronically, and customize their mobility plan to enhance their experience.
EUROPE
Category: Health improvement and digital technology (e-Health)
Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s patients suffer freezing episodes that limit their independence. The intelligent Pauto walking stick gives visual and haptic stimuli that helps them to get back on track and reinforce their confidence when moving. In addition, their device records the position, detects falls and helps in situations of disorientation.

Many older people who can no longer live alone and need a private residence or home care, cannot afford it. Pensium is a new solution that allows you to afford the expenses by anticipating future rentals of your home, without losing your property and without mortgages.
