Description
His wife Eleanor became one of the most important themes in his photography. These intimate images begin towards the end of the 1940s, in a 20 x 25 format. The viewer is able to peer into the artist’s private life through these photographs. A plump and naked Eleanor leaning against the fireplace (Eleanor, Chicago 1950), only her shadow (Eleanor, Chicago 1949), in the water, barely visible and lost in the horizon (Eleanor, Indiana 1948)… an emotional memory through photography.
