COLLECTIONS CATALOG
After visiting an August Sander exhibition in 1981, Alberto García-Alix realized that he wanted to dedicate himself in full to photography, which became his vehicle for understanding the world. A portraitist—even when people do not appear in his works, since he hints at them through objects like belts or shoes—the artist delves into a personal realm through his photographs; one he shares with his family, lovers, and pets. The viewer encounters a relaxed and reassuring environment.
García-Alix is a self-taught photographer, an aspect that contributed to the creation of a body of work that is truly free and has become part of the collective consciousness of an entire era.
